Startups focused on innovations in big data, smart cities and the internet of things are being encouraged to seek support and funding from the tech accelerator Wayra.

Applicants have from now until Feb. 23 to try out for one of around 50 spots at a Wayra Academy in Barcelona, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Caracas, London, Madrid or Prague.

Backed by Telefónica and founded in 2011, Wayra is a tech accelerator focused on innovations in the ICT (information and communication technology) sector. It provides startups with working space, up €50,000 in funding, technology and management support and ongoing financing guidance.

Since its launch, Wayra has provided support and some €43 million in funding to 315 companies in 20 digital industries.
